Radio Encore Broadcast Tools™

Your studio.
At a glance.

Meet REST, the Mac companion app for your RØDECaster Pro II or Duo, with MIDI fader support for the Original Pro (Pro I). Keep fader levels, mute and listen states, and your studio clock in view. Follow your Pads and see what’s playing in a dedicated artwork window. Keep live news TV, headlines and a scrolling ticker in view, then let your microphone faders switch your on-air light automatically. Arrange separate windows across your Mac and external displays.

Features vary by mixer. Check your mixer’s compatibility below.

Your windows. Your studio.

A closer look at REST

Keep the displays you need in view, wherever they work best on your Mac. Select a screenshot to take a closer look.

Studio Clock

⌘2

Bring the essentials together: a clear 12- or 24-hour clock, seconds to the next minute, an ON-AIR indicator, world clocks and live channel status alongside your mix meters.

Fader Monitor

⌘1

See your physical channels at a glance with source names, desk colours, fader percentages, mute and PFL listen states. Headphone levels, stereo mix meters and the selected Pad page keep the wider picture in view. Optional headphone reminders warn above your chosen knob percentage and clear automatically when the level drops. They indicate knob position, not measured listening loudness.

Pads

⌘3

Follow the page selected on your RØDE, with named Pads arranged to match the desk. Colour previews help you recognise each Pad at a glance. A bright outline and PRESSED label follow physical presses, with a brief flash for quick taps. The highlight shows the press rather than ongoing sound playback.

Virtual Faders

⌘4

Give your assigned virtual channels their own space. View live levels, source names, colours, mute and PFL status without crowding the main Fader Monitor.

Now Playing

⌘5

Put the artist, song and album cover on a dedicated display. Read supported ICY/Shoutcast streams, HLS song metadata or a local text file, with optional cover lookup and your own logo—or REST branding—as the fallback.

News / TV

⌘6

Keep live news TV and a scrolling RSS or Atom ticker together. GB News is the default channel, with Sky News, France 24 English and DW English in the selector. You can also add your own direct HLS stream address.

Resize the window or go full screen. Choose Fit for the whole picture or Fill to crop its edges, and show or hide the large headline and photo panel. TV starts muted; select a separate available audio output for the TV stream and unmute when you’re ready.

Prefer headlines only? Switch to Headlines, choose your text colours and timing, and add an optional second feed for the scrolling strip. In TV mode, the ticker uses your main feed when a second feed hasn’t been set. Feeds refresh every five minutes while the window is open.

Live TV licensing rules vary by country. Check local requirements and the broadcaster’s and feed provider’s terms before use. News / TV settings include a licence notice and a link to official UK information. REST does not grant rights to broadcasts, headlines or photos. Screenshots show third-party content as displayed in the app.

More room for your studio

Arrange the Studio Clock, live stereo mix meters, News / TV, Pads, Virtual Faders and Now Playing across your Mac and an external display. Keep the windows you need in sight while you work.

Want a display just for television? Pop Out TV moves the same stream into a separate window without headlines or tickers. Resize it, move it to another screen or use full screen, then return it to News when you’re ready. Playback and audio settings stay with the stream.

Connection at a glance

Know when your mixer is connected

A matching mixer picture and green status identify your connected desk. When it disconnects, REST shows the crossed-out RØDE symbol, a red connection status and waiting readings. REST checks for a mixer every five seconds.

Connected

Your mixer’s picture and name, with live fader, Mute and PFL/Listen status.

Disconnected

A clear connection warning, with readings marked as waiting until the mixer returns.

See your channels clearly

View physical and virtual fader levels, channel colours, mute and PFL listen states, headphone levels and your mix meters.

A clock built for broadcasting

A clear studio clock with an on-air indicator, countdown to the next minute, world clocks and a choice of 12- or 24-hour time.

An on-air light, made simple

Use a compatible Tapo smart plug to switch your on-air light from your microphone faders. Tested with Tapo P100 and P110 smart plugs. When all monitored microphones are down or muted, the light goes off. No desk modifications or external relay needed.

Keep your Pads in view

A dedicated Pads window follows the selected page and displays pad labels with colour previews. Physical presses get a bright outline and PRESSED label, and quick taps flash briefly.

Now Playing depends on the metadata supplied by your stream. HLS artwork is shown when supported embedded artwork is available. Pad colours are approximate previews. Press feedback has been confirmed on Pro II hardware; Duo hardware verification is still pending.

Your studio setup

Meet the mixers. Add an on-air light.

REST recognises the connected RØDECaster and shows its picture and name in the Fader Monitor. Add a compatible Tapo smart plug to switch your own on-air light with your microphone faders.

Mixer compatibility

A clear view of what your desk supports

RØDECaster Pro II & Duo

Live physical and assigned virtual faders, source assignments, Mute/Listen indicators, headphone levels, desk colours and the selected SMART Pad page, with Pad names and colour previews. The connected mixer’s picture and name appear in the Fader Monitor.

Original RØDECaster Pro · Pro I

MIDI monitoring for all eight physical faders, with Mute/Listen tracking on channels 1–7 after you confirm their starting state. Channel 8 has fader level and PFL/Listen, with no Mute button. Microphone channels 1–4 control the clock’s ON-AIR indication and optional Tapo light; USB, phone, Bluetooth and sound-pad controls do not switch the light.

Starting with the Original Pro

The older desk does not reliably provide REST with a complete startup state. On connection, REST guides you to move each fader slightly and fully down to 0%, switch all Mute/Listen buttons OFF, then confirm “Everything is OFF — start”. You can also match the current buttons manually. Resume saved readings only when every control is unchanged.

Original Pro feature limits

REST currently does not display the Original Pro’s headphone or main output knob positions, automatic desk colours, Pad names/colours/pages, pad presses or virtual faders. Colours can be chosen manually. MIDI must be enabled on the desk. REST checks for reconnection every five seconds and shows the disconnected symbol until a mixer returns.

Requires a connected RØDECaster Pro II, Duo or Original Pro with MIDI enabled. Original Pro support has the startup steps and feature limits described above. Optional on-air light control requires a compatible Tapo plug and your own light; tested with Tapo P100 and P110. Pad colours are approximate previews.
